The AIC contains information regarding CASA Professional Flight Crew Examinations for 2003/2004. ![]() AIC H12/03 - Flight Crew Exams Information in AIC H12/03, except for those cancelled or amended as explained below, continues to be valid until CASA advises otherwise, and shall be referred to. The information is being gradually transferred across to the correct CASA flight crew examination pages. On 12 July 2004 the 2004 amendments to the Civil Aviation (Fees) Regulations comes into effect. The new flight crew examination fees, including that for an examination re-mark, supersedes the CASA flight crew examination fees as detailed in AIC H12/03. The following paragraphs in AIC H12/03 are to be cancelled or amended with effect from 12 July 2004:
![]() The ATPL examination now comprises of seven separate examinations. These are: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Individual Subject Credits All ATPL exams are individual examinations. Candidates may choose to sit any number of papers at any particular sitting and be credited with a pass in each examination separately. When all subjects have been passed, a candidate is awarded a pass in the ATPL examination. Examination Pre-Requisites Please ensure you visit the CASA website and confirm the current Pre-Qualifications requirments before preparing for or attempting to book any CASA CyberExams. It is essential for overseas students to contact the CASA Flight Crew Examination and/or Licencing Sections to confirm they meet this requirement prior to booking their CASA ATPL examinations. Perpetual Validity Period The ATPL credit, once issued will remain valid indefinitely. This may be reviewed at a later date. Three Year Time Frame All examinations must be passed within a 3 year period, from the date of the first attempt, successful or otherwise, for a candidate to be awarded an ATPL theory pass. Time restrictions for Air Law have been changed since 2002 and the twelve month validity period is no longer applicable. As for the other subjects, and together with them, the Air Law exam has to be completed within the 3-year period allowed. Pass Mark Required The pass mark for each examination is 70%, except for the Air Law where the pass mark is 80%. ![]() The CPL examination now comprises of seven separate examinations. Examinations may be accessed, in accordance with the procedures detailed in the CyberExams Supervisor Handbook, during normal business hours (0800 - 1800 local time), every day. ASL is responsible for the booking and delivery of the examinations through a network of examination sites, while CASA is responsible for the provisions of the examinations through their CyberExams System. The fees for the examination service is split into two parts - ![]() ![]() The CASA examination fees are for the CyberExam service provided by CASA via their web-based delivery system. The ASL exam delivery fees are charged for each examination subject required. The fee structure is based around the length of the examination subject as this determines the amount of computer time used to deliver the subject. HOW TO APPLY FOR A CASA EXAMINATION All CASA Flight Crew Examinations are booked through Assessment Services Ltd (ASL) Important Note: CyberExams used as credits towards CASA flight crew licences can only be sat in Australia Before booking any CASA CyberExams, candidates need to be sure of their eligibility and timing before making a booking. ASL have a strict policy on refunds and transfers to other sitting dates. When booking exams candidates should be aware of the retraining periods required after exam failures and make allowances for this. ASL recommend that you do not book for more than three exams at a time to ensure there are no transfer fees or that exam fees are not forfeited. ![]() Step 1 ![]() Log onto the ASL Website. Step 2 ![]() From the front page of the ASL website, click on the "Enter Site" button on the lower left corner of the page. If you are a first time user of the ASL website you will need to create a Username and Password before you can book exams. To do this click on the "My Details" button on the home page. This button appears on the left hand menu and also on the centre page menu A new page will come up requesting information to login. For first time users there is a "New Account" button at the bottom of the page. Click on this button and on the following page enter your personal details and your preferred Username and Password. Once you have set up a Username and Password you can amend your personal details via the "Login" button on the "My Details" page. If you already have a Username and Password you can use the "Book Exam" button on the left hand menu or centre page menu to go directly to the CASA CyberExam booking page. Step 3 ![]() After clicking the "Book Exam" button you will be taken to a page where you can select the kind of exam you require eg.. ATPL Examinations, CPL Examinations, PPL Examinations or Rating Examinations. After selecting the kind of exam you require the following page allows you to select the actual subject you would like to sit via the "Book" button next to each subject listed. The next window to appear is the "Username and Password Login" page. After entering your Username and Password you will be taken to a page where you select the ASL venue where you would prefer to sit the CASA CyberExam. After selecting the preferred ASL venue you will be presented with the date and time of the exam sessions available at which you can sit your exam. Under each session there is a number in brackets which advises how many vacant positions there are available for that session. Once you have selected the session you require by clicking on that session, the next page will show all details and costs associated with that exam booking. A link with the Terms and Conditions that apply to your booking will appear. If you are satisfied you understand and accept the Terms and Conditions you must click in the "Read" box on the lower right side of the page before you will be allowed to continue with the booking. Provided CASA has confirmed you are eligible sit the required exam and after you have clicked the "Read" button, the "Continue with Purchase" button at the bottom of the page will become available. Once you are happy that you fully understand the information and wish to proceed with your CASA CyberExam booking, click the "Continue with Purchase" button. Step 4 ![]() The next window to appear is the ASL Shopping Cart. Again all details and costs associated with your booking will be displayed. If you are satisfied with the information you can click the "Checkout" button at the bottom of the page to finalise your booking. You will be presented with a number of options to make payment for your exam booking. Choices include online credit card payments via the "Pay Now" button, or using the "Print paper order" button to print a form you can post or fax to ASL with your exam booking. Step 5 ![]() If you make payment online, after the payment process has been completed you can use the "Print Acceptance Advice" button and the "Print Invoice" button to print a hard copy of your exam booking details.
